CAS Card Series

Hi all! It’s Maureen here to share my card for our CAS card series:

I love making Clean And Simple cards! I used the new Scripty Word Die Set, the Flourishes clear stamp set, and some Black Gumdrops. You may think that you can’t add texture to CAS cards, but you can using the Flourishes set just around the edges of your panel. This still leaves lots of white space, but helps your eye travel around the card.

You may also think that you can’t use embellishments on CAS card, but our fabulous Gumdrops are the perfect finishing touch – they add just a little dimension and you can use several of them and not overwhelm the card.

I hope this inspires you to create some CAS masterpieces! Thanks for stopping by! ~Maureen

Welcome New Design Team Member Tracy Penney

Woo hoo - we're halfway through the week, YNS friends! Hope you're having a good one so far.

Please help me in welcoming our newest Design Team Member, Tracy, to the YNS family! Tracy volunteered to help Karen out while YNS was exhibiting at one of the local shows and Karen knew Tracy would be the perfect addition to the team. Tracy has been with us since the beginning of August participating in our new August release, but we wanted to give her a proper YNS introduction.

Tracy Penney

My name is Tracy and I live in Ontario Canada with my husband and two daughters. I work full time, so my crafting moments are whenever I can find a bit of “free” time during the day or night. I am primarily a card maker, however I have recently discovered the joy of scrapbooking. I started creating with paper shortly after my first daughter was born and I haven’t looked back since. I enjoy working with stamped images and colouring with Copic markers. My style is always developing and changing, however it may be - my projects usually involve lots of layers! I have been a huge fan of Your Next Stamp since the purchase of my first image: Ellie Loves Lattes. I am so excited to be joining the Your Next Stamp family and working with Karen and her fabulous design team.

Here are two of Tracy's cards that have easily become my favourites so far:

Tracy coloured in the Hippie Owl van so beautifully here!

The Cake Celebrations bear has some soft looking fur thanks to Tracy's Copic colouring once again!

So glad you've joined our team, Tracy! We look forward to seeing all your fabulous projects in the future.

Making seasonal images versatile by Bonnie

Hi all, it is my special day here on the YNS Blog. I would like to share one of my Tips/Tricks I use when using Your Next Stamps digital images.

Sometimes, when you look at a digital image, you might think it is seasonal and you can only use it for that season. I try to look beyond the season to see how I can get more usage out of a digital image.

This month for the Your Next Stamp Challenge Blog, I will be using this Tip/Trick for all of my Design Team cards. Last Friday, I used the digital image "Kiss Me" in the Challenge Blog DT line up and just used the little girl from the digital image. Did you wonder how I did that?

For this post I will be using the image "Autumn Leaves" I will tell you how I used just a portion of the image, first here is the finished card. I am also using the current YNS Challenge Blog sketch.

First of all, here is the original image Autumn Leaves found at the YNS store here:

1. If you like a white background instead of fussy cutting, I take the digital image to my program that will erase lines, I use Photoshop.

2. For fussy cutting or if I want a white background, I crop the image to what I will be using. In this case just around the puppy's head and birds.

3. Then using the eraser, I erase all of the background that i don't want.

*Tip- You will want to make sure that you don't leave any bits of lines that you don't want because if you prefer a white background instead of fussy cutting this will be important.

4. If you are a fussy cutter instead of using a white background, you will not need to erase any lines. (I am sure there are other ways of removing the background, for now, this is how I've been doing it)

5. I then bring the image to Word after I crop and erase the background so that I can get the size I want and position it on the paper I am using. Again, I am sure all of that can be done in Photoshop too.

*Tip- I made this image 3" high.

6. Color your image and in my case I fussy cut it out and then I created my card.

7. Now you have an image that can be used for ANY season or occasion.

Another example of changing the seasonal images to any season or occasion using the image "Kiss Me":

I hope you enjoyed my Tips/Trick today. If any of you have a tip for erasing the backgrounds, I'd love to know! Thanks for stopping by!

Design Team Tuesday - CAS!

Hi everyone! Laura here with a card to share for our CAS card series here at YNS.
I consider my own card making style to be fairly CAS (clean and simple)... I like my cards to have clean lines, one major focal point, and I do very little embellishing.
I used the new Bitty Bugs set today. These tiny bugs are a perfect focal point for a CAS card with a lot of white space.

For a long time I thought CAS meant one layer and flat. It doesn't have to be that way though... you can add simple details while still keeping a clean design.
Here, I popped up the spider's body to add a little dimension, and to give room to tuck the "web" behind it. I also drew in thin black lines on each panel... it adds a bit of interest without being too bold to take away from the design.

I hope you are getting lots of inspiration for your CAS card making!
Stay tuned in here each Tuesday for more CAS ideas!

Thanks for visiting today!

Hello! My name is Kerri Michaud and I’m a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos ages 7, 5, and 2! We currently live in Apopka, Florida which is just outside of Orlando. I got into stamping about 2 years ago after I had my first Stampin’ Up party. I was instantly hooked LOL! Before then I had dabbled in scrapbooking, crocheting, sewing, quilting, jewelry making, and whatever other crafty whims that came my way. I think I have found my true passion in stamping and card making though! I also LOVE to make altered items and little gift boxes, etc. I am soooo excited and honored to be part of the Senior DT for Your Next Stamp! I ADORE these darling images and just love working with Karen and the rest of the DT!

We live in the Shuswap, part of the Northern Okanagan in beautiful British Columbia. I have been stamping seriously now for about 3 years and love this hobby and all the wonderful people I've been lucky enough to meet so far! I am thrilled to be part of the Your Next Stamp design team and to be working with such talented women.

Hi everybody! My name is Maureen and I live in sunny Hawaii with my husband, 2 boys and 3 dogs. When I'm not paper crafting, you can find me reading, watching TV, or playing on the computer. I'm so excited to be designing for Your Next Stamp and I hope I can inspire you at least a little with what I create!

Angel Rivera

Angel Rivera
Designer
My name is Angel and I’ve been stamping for over 8 years! I also scrapbook from time to time, but prefer making cards or other little projects. I try to escape to my craft room as often as my 3 boys (ages 16, 12 and 10) and all of their extra activities allow! My husband of 19 years, Derek, is supportive of my crafty time because he knows it makes me happy. I also work full time with a wealth management company and am a licensed life and health insurance agent. I’m so excited to be working with Karen and ALL of the YNS crew!

Bonnie Kohane

Bonnie Kohane
Designer
I am a second generation SAHM, which i call SAHGM. ("G" for grandma). I have been watching my grandkids for 7 yrs. I am also going through a second generation of crafting, i have a scrapbook that is almost 60yrs old filled with all of my favorite memories. I've been featured in Stamper's Sampler..more of an artsy card magazine...but my style tends to be "cute". Card crafting isn't the only thing i like to do, if i am not working on cards, you'd see me working at my sewing machine, crocheting or trying any new craft technique out there.. i love a challenge..which brings me to say..i can't wait to see what you all create for the YNS challenges!

Brianna Loeffelbein

Brianna Loeffelbein
Designer
Hello my name is Brianna also know as Happy Scrapper in the crafting world. I am 26 years old, I am married to a wonderful supportive husband of four years and we have an amazing two year old son Jayden. We live in a small northen town called Brainerd which is located in the state of Minnesota. For the past 7 years, I have been working for our Local UPS Store as store manager and I just love it. When I am not working I am spending time with my family and friends and of course crafting! I have been passionate about crafting my entire life. My main love of course, is Paper Crafting, specifically card making. I also like to sew, bead and crochet and teach others how to show thier creative sides. I am so honored and privileged to be joining such and awesome group of ladies here at YNS, I can’t wait to get started and share all my creations with you!!

Deborah Anton

Deborah Anton
Designer
My name is Deborah Anton and I am a stay at home mom to 11 year old twin boys and a wife of 12 years to a patient, loving, and awesome Army Officer. I am originally from California but currently live in Tennessee. I keep pretty busy just on the home-front with my active boys playing different sports, moving every few years, and volunteering with the Army. But in the little "me" time I do get, I love to do anything crafty and hide in my craft room!! I started out 11 years ago designing and creating jewelry for 2 large retailers, which led me to having my own business; until 8 years ago when I met designer paper and glue. A new love relation began! I am so excited to be part of the YNS team and work alongside so many talented ladies!

Jen Roach

Jen Roach
Designer
My name is Jennifer and I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and 3 year old daughter. I'm a scientist by day and a paper crafter by night ---or really just about any free time I have including my lunch breaks at work!!

I started out in paper crafting back in about 2002 when my Mom and I took a scrapbooking class together. A few years later I decided to give card making a try and it's been my passion ever since. I'm the world's slowest scrapbooker so the instant gratification of card making really won me over. Over the years I have used more and more stamping in my designs and I love learning and trying new techniques and styles.

I would probably define myself as a "scrappy stamper". I *LOVE* patterned paper and most of my cards have lots of it with added layered on embellishments and textures. My cards may not be easy to mail but boy are they pretty!!

Other than crafting, I love to play tennis as you can probably tell from my blog address:

Julie Elak

Julie Elak
Designer
Hi, I am Julie Elak, aka "The Last Minute Crafter". My days are kept busy working full time and running after my children. I use almost every free minute to craft, my purse is typically full of copics and a pari of scissors. I began stamping well over 10 years ago, but my love for paper crafting found renewed energy once I discovered the online community in 2009. I started a blog on a whim and am so happy I did. I have made many friendships and found so much support and encouragement on-line.

Laura Nehring

Laura Nehring
Designer
My name is Laura, and I am SO excited and honored to be joining the Your Next Stamp Team! I am a former preschool/kindergarten teacher, now stay at home mom to 3 energetic kiddos - 5 year old twin girls, and a 4 year old boy. I met my husband the year I graduated from highschool, and we've been together ever since. We are enjoying life in sunny southern California, where we were both born and raised.

I started scrapbooking in 2006 when I was pregnant with my girls, which led me to stamping and cardmaking a few years later. The point of no return was when I purchased my first Copic marker at a local scrapbook expo 2 years ago... now I'm hooked! I LOVE to color, and it's how I unwind at the end of a busy day! My card making style is fairly clean and simple... I like for the images to be the focus of my creations, so I don't do a lot of embellishing. In addition to Copics, I am also completely obsessed with Kraft Cardstock, and polka dots! I am really looking forward to being a part the YNS team!

Nicole Nastali

Nicole Nastali
Designer
Hi! I’m a former kindergarten teacher who is now a stay at home mom to my 2 little girls. My hubby is supportive of all my crafty pursuits and that says a lot about him because I love all kinds of crafts from making headbands, bows, & designing dresses to making party favors and now cards!! I am a newcomer on the stamping scene and have met so many wonderful crafting friends already thanks to the common joy of card making and coloring with Copic markers. I would color all day long if my family would let me…!! Lol! My favorite colors are the blue greens (affectionately called the BG’s) and I try to sneak them into every card I make!! I love to get crafty with my girls (ages 8 & 6) and let them color images right along side me. It’s a fun hobby for us all to share!! A sleepover stamp from YNS was one of my very first stamp purchases & I’ve been in love with Fhiona & friends ever since!! I’m thrilled to be joining the YNS Team with this group of fabulously talented ladies & I can’t wait to share my cards with you!!

Ruza Rebel

Ruza Rebel
Designer
I'm a former Administrative Assistant turned stay-at-home mom to a very special young lady. I've been crafting since I was a young child, and when I became a SAHM I turned to crafting to stay busy. Staying busy making cards, altering items, and just having fun with paper is an amazing hobby that I truly fell in love with. I'm very grateful that I have a husband that supports me, that my son loves seeing my creations as well, and my special young lady enjoys getting into my crafts. I truly love the challenge of making something beautiful with the various products available to the crafting industry. That is why I am super excited to share my projects featuring the amazing YNS Digital Stamps, and I look forward to seeing your creations as well!

Sheila Veitch

Sheila Veitch
Designer
I was borne and grew up in a small town Canada. I started paper crafting in the fall of 2007, when I saw a stamping catalogue one of my friends had laying around her home. I took one look through the catalogue and was so excited because I knew I had found my favorite hobby at last! Making Cards. I’m a natural born artist, I completed a graphic arts program in college and worked as an artist for several years a life time ago. I currently work as an office administrator in Toronto where I live with my dog Georgie. Though I absolutely love my job, this hobby is my creative outlet. I believe, the cards I make are like little works of art, expressed from the heart. I find that when I’m making a card for a specific person, I am thinking about that person through the whole process. And that in itself can be the gift.
